We love bicycles, yes, it's true. Bicycle is even in our name. But the number one reason we are a house of bicycles is because of you, our customers. And whether we get to see you again or meet you for the first time, we are thankful for you and for the opportunity to serve you however we can. The ancient proverb is at home in our modern structure made of glass and steel in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. Home is certainly where the heart is in our Haüs. The bicycles always seem to outnumber the people here, but that has never been our measuring stick of success. Instead, it's you, the "vital component" to our work day, which drives our passion, and we simply wouldn’t have it any other way! We all recognize the value of a home, one that's defined by what and who you love. Our daily purpose isn't just to build, ride and sell beautiful bicycles, but rather, to first serve you, our friends, our family, our community, in a home built for that very purpose. To define us as your bicycle shop is very kind, but to define us as your bicycle home is our mission.

THE HAÜS STORY

The story of Bicycle Haüs began many years ago, long before the big, glass doors were ever opened. Kale and Shasta first met in the 6th grade in Missoula, Montana. After moving to Arizona for school, they both worked their way through college - Shasta in the spa industry and Kale, discovering a true passion for cycling while working in local bike shops. This passion grew along with his experiences in the industry, and it wasn’t long before new ideas really began to take shape. As soon as Shasta graduated, Kale announced that he was ready to do things differently. He was determined to create something special, something different, which eventually led to the opening of their original location on 5th Avenue in 2004. The clever “Haüs” name was chosen to honor their German roots, a distinctive part of the shop’s unique brand and culture. Along with the birth of Bicycle Haüs in Old Town Scottsdale came the birth of their son, Hudson, and as new parents, Kale and Shasta gathered all the courage and money they had to take those first steps into the community as a business. That first year was truly memorable, especially with the arrival of their daughter, Kendal. Kale and first shop employee, Craig Abraham, who still manages the shop today, worked side by side, seven days a week, creating a bike shop unlike any other. That 5th Avenue Haüs became their “home” for 10 years. With a decade of experience under their belt, Kale and Shasta eagerly decided to grow their vision further by creating their new home on East 1st Avenue. They recognized the unique opportunity as a way to better serve their community and build upon their dream, not only for the present, but for many years to come. Regardless of whatever structure the Haüs calls home, the focus on family, friends and community has always been and will continue to be at the very core of the Bicycle Haüs story.
